{"id":45868,"date":"2023-07-13T14:51:25","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T18:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/ams\/?page_id=45868"},"modified":"2026-05-05T06:49:35","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T10:49:35","slug":"ams-mse-outside-course-proposals-list","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/ams\/ams-mse-outside-course-proposals-list\/","title":{"rendered":"AMS MSE Outside Course Proposals List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This resource lists many courses considered for approval in past years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Each student&#8217;s AMS MSE program proposal is reviewed and considered in its entirety, checking for content overlap, appropriate course sequencing, and adherence to all other degree requirements.\u00a0 Remember that, at most, three outside <em>(non EN.553)<\/em> courses may be counted toward your degree requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The appearance of a course listed as &#8220;approved&#8221; on this list <strong>DOES NOT imply it will be approved <\/strong>for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">every<\/span> student in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">every<\/span> situation.\u00a0 Students <strong>are required<\/strong> to start the approval process by submitting a program proposal <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">well in advance<\/span> of taking the course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">EN.625.xxx courses noted as &#8221; Approved * &#8221; are also allowable for AMS MSE students enrolled in the Home-to-Hopkins program to take in the summer before their arrival on campus.\u00a0 Home-to-Hopkins students may take a maximum of two courses in the summer before their arrival on campus.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This resource lists many courses considered for approval in past years.
