{"id":14715,"date":"2025-04-25T03:22:40","date_gmt":"2025-04-25T10:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/MCP\/?page_id=14715"},"modified":"2025-04-25T03:22:40","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T10:22:40","slug":"users-charter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/engineering.jhu.edu\/MCP\/users-charter\/","title":{"rendered":"Users Charter"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<em>Please review these guidelines before engaging with the MCP.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rights of Users<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be treated with respect and courtesy.<\/li>\n<li>Receive training regarding Lab safety and the proper and ethical utilization of instruments (and\/or computers &#8211; when relevant).<\/li>\n<li>Expect that instruments will function dependably and consistently.<\/li>\n<li>Expect staff to fully execute your experiment and gather the necessary data, when you request &#8216;Assisted Support\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>If an experiment cannot be conducted due to issues with instrumentation or the facility, it will be rearranged without additional charges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities of Users<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treat facility staff with respect and<\/li>\n<li>Conduct activities according to the highest scientific, professional, and moral principles.<\/li>\n<li>Complete all required training, obtain a valid user agreement, and abide by all safety and security regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Comply with JHU and MCP policies, including those concerning billing, scheduling, equipment sharing, cancellations, and modifications.<\/li>\n<li>Assume repair costs associated with equipment damage due to improper and negligent use.<\/li>\n<li>Bring research group members capable of conducting the experiments after initial training.<\/li>\n<li>Supply all their own expendable materials needed for their experiments.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with Lab manager to plan experiment and confirm the scope for projects requiring &#8216;Assisted Support&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Uphold and encourage a strong safety environment.<\/li>\n<li>Clean up the workspace and return instrument in its original configuration after usage for the next user.<\/li>\n<li>Give proper credit to MCP in all publications and presentations.<\/li>\n<li>Provide complete citations for all publications that include research performed at MCP.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in MCP survey requests promptly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Please review these guidelines before engaging with the MCP.
