Future Inventors, Researchers, Scientists
and Teachers
The project recruited 40 student and 10 teachers from Baltimore and Washington,
DC inner city and neighborhood schools. The students were mentored by their
teachers and through material provided by the National Inventors Hall of
Fame. The students and their teachers were encouraged to develop concepts
that demonstrated the trans-disciplinary nature of the research and invention
process within the framework of a “Quality of Life’ theme. Students
presented their inventions and business concepts to a panel of inductees
from the NIHF in May and June of 2005. Inventions included solar powered
remote controls for televisions and stereos, and safety devices for their
younger siblings.
