Mission, Goals and Services
The mission of the Homewood Intellectual Property & Technology Commercialization Office is to enhance and promote intellectual property management and technology commercialization for the Homewood Schools of the Johns Hopkins University (JHU). Its goal is to accelerate the dissemination of intellectual property developed by academia into the private sector and to ensure that intellectual property developed by Homewood faculty is commercialized to benefit society.

The Homewood Intellectual Property & Technology Commercialization Office:

  • Manages the Intellectual Property Portfolio of the Homewood schools (Whiting School of Engineering and Krieger School of Arts and Sciences)
  • Administers a comprehensive list of technologies developed on the Homewood campus in diverse technical fields
  • Acts as a resource for parties interested in commercialization technologies created at the Homewood schools
  • Coordinates activities with Sponsored Research Administration, Developmental Services and Johns Hopkins Technology Transfer (JHTT)

Collaborative Research
The Homewood schools collaborate very closely with both the School of Medicine and the Applied Physics Laboratory on joint research. This allows researchers to leverage the knowledge of their peers in other schools and has lead to a number of breakthroughs in science.
