Outright and Endowment gifts are larger in size than annual gifts and can be directed toward a specific area at the school. Gifts can be made either “outright” (the funds are spent over a period of time), or as “endowment” gifts, which begin at the $100,000 level and of which only a percentage of the income is allocated each year. Endowment gifts grow in perpetuity and can be named to honor or memorialize a person of the donor's choosing.
Outright and endowment gift priorities fall in the following categories:
Students: Outright gifts to support both scholarships and fellowships can be named at the $30,000 level. Permanent, endowed gifts can be funded with gifts of $100,000 and above.
Professorships and Faculty Scholars: Full professorships can funded at $2.5 million and faculty scholars at $1 million.
Infrastructure: Outright gifts of $50,000 and above provide naming opportunities for a range of rooms, labs, and other spaces on campus.
Programs: Gifts of all sizes can support our programs and help faculty and students pursue new and innovative research. Outright commitments of $30,000 and above can be designated to support programs as the donor wishes. Endowed gifts for programs begin at the $100,000 level.
