As member of the JHUISI staff, Zack can be found informing prospective students, assisting applicants, and supporting current students with a wide-range of administrative and financial questions. He comes to JHU from the University of Pennsylvania where he worked in student services. He received his BA from the University of Michigan in 2009, and he earned his MLA from Penn in 2015, with a concentration in Political and Educational Studies. As a result of an early-childhood addiction to video games, Zack still sees Tetris pieces falling from the sky when he shuts his eyes.
Joseph Carrigan is a Software Engineer with over 17 years of software development experience in a broad range of fields including computer and software security, microcontroller development, data migration, data integration, data warehousing and network communication. He has a B.S. (’99) in Computer and Information Science from The University of Maryland, University College and an M.S. (’08) in Computer Science from Capitol College.
As the Sr. Academic Program Coordinator, Jessica is primarily responsible for the day-to-day running of the JHUISI’s Master’s program. She assists students with the administrative aspects of the program, ensuring they are supported from admissions through graduation. She previously worked as an Academic Programs Coordinator in the Biology Department at Hopkins. Jessica received her BA from Dickinson College in 2009, and earned her MS in 2015 from the Johns Hopkins School of Education. Outside of work she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Laura began her career at Hopkins over 19 years ago in the Purchasing department. She also worked in the WSE Center for Language and Speech Processing before joining JHUISI in 2006. She is responsible for the oversight of most of the activities in the institute but her top priority is ensuring that anyone who comes to the office gets the information that they are seeking or a resolution to the issue they have. Outside of the office, Laura enjoys reading and movies and when motivation strikes, she may go running.
|Shani P. McPherson
Shani Provost joined JHUISI as the Communications Specialist in May 2015. As the Communication Specialist, she is responsible for all marketing, print and online communications and social media for the institute. She is also the liaison to the WSE and central communications office and assists with event logistics and outreach activities. Shani earned her B.A. in Communications from Johnson C. Smith University and a M.A. in Journalism & Public Affairs from American University. In her spare time, Shani enjoys reviewing the latest reads with her book club, “The Bookettes,” jogging the Baltimore Harbor, and spending time with family and friends.
Javonnia Thomas joined JHUSI in 2007 after working as a sole proprietor and in multiple organizations as a private contractor and bookkeeper.
As the Senior Financial Analyst, Javonnia provides financial analytical support to faculty and University Management for decision making purposes via oversight and tracking of sponsored and non-sponsored funding such as grants, contracts, and gifts. She also advises faculty and staff on relevant University and Federal policies and procedures that impact funding. Additionally, Javonnia works to bridge the gap for students who support the faculty labs and University research.
