An avid fisherman, Charles Picek enjoyed his retirement in Sanibel Island, Florida, after 50 years as an engineer.

Charles Picek, ’44 (chemical engineering), died on January 9 in Ft. Myers, Fla. He was 93. During his 50 year career, Charlie specialized in petrochemical, fertilizer, pharmaceutical and environmental processes engineering. In addition to pioneering seawater evaporators to make fresh water for ships, he held several patents on filters and processes for groundbreaking work in water purification and in situ serum sterilization. During his career, he was vice president of engineering for Cuno Engineering Co., when it was taken over by AMF. He retired from Pall Corp. in the 1980s, and served as president of the CRP Consulting Group for another decade in Maryland.
